Google may think that RSS is not worth it, but I absolutely love it. Thanks to RSS, I don’t have to frequently visit a website to see what new content it has to offer. I can monitor the website’s RSS feed with a RSS reader such as Crayfish, see what new articles have been posted, and conveniently open an article in my browser.

Crayfish is compatible with 32- as well as 64-bit versions of Microsoft’s Windows operating system. That’s any Windows version from the quite old Windows XP all the way up to the recently released Windows 10. Please note that Crayfish needs .NET Framework 4 or newer to work. A straightforward setup wizard will help you install Crayfish on your Windows PC.

By default, Crayfish displays a list of recommended feeds at startup. The list includes the RSS feed for BBC News, CNN, and Lifehacker. Check any entry from this list to subscribe to the RSS feed. Speaking about subscribing to a RSS feed, doing so is a very simple 3-step process:
Step 1 – click the Add Feed button from the upper left hand corner.
Step 2 – enter the RSS feed’s URL.
Step 3 – click the Add button.

The Quick Look video that accompanies this article shows how easy it is to subscribe to a RSS feed from the recommended list and how easy it is to add a custom list to Crayfish.

Crayfish is free to use for a trial period of 30 days.

Niko Rosvall’s free scriptable RSS reader for Windows comes in very handy if you want to monitor various RSS feeds.

Pros

Crayfish is compatible with 32- and 64-bit Windows editions, any edition from XP onward. Crayfish has a very simple interface. There’s a handy list of recommended RSS feeds. You can easily add any RSS feed you want. Other features: scripting in C#, embedded web server, search, new article notifications, supports RSS and Atom.

Cons

Trial limitations: 30-day trial. A preview feature would be nice, so you can see more than just the article's title.
